Commercial Litigation
Commercial Litigation services
Members of our Commercial Dispute Resolution team count commercial common sense and a knowledge of our clients’ business as the basis for a sensible resolution of disputes.
KBL offer a knowledgeable and experienced team whose aim is to resolve commercial disputes speedily and cost effectively. We pride ourselves in keeping our clients OUT of court and take a broad commercial approach to litigation and dispute resolution. We collaborate closely where necessary with barristers and experts to achieve the best result through litigation or by settlement such as mediation.
"Very well respected by other firms and Counsel. A good team which is always on top of its cases and cares for the clients" The Legal 500, 2022
All of KBL’s litigation solicitors are recommended in the Legal 500. For advice and assistance contact Partner and Head of Litigation Michael Slater on mslater@kbl.co.uk or Bolton 01204 527777 / Blackburn 01254 268790.
We offer support to clients involved in litigation and disputes from the outset through to conclusion; including coming on the court record as your formal representative and handling the entire court process (if a claim is issued) and negotiating settlements.
We strive to be reasonable in cost, approachable, understand your priorities, and always provide legal advice that you understand. We have a simple 3 stage approach to each case:-
- We assess the case thoroughly and quickly
- We determine whether we can assist
- We provide a costs estimate for the work we propose should be undertaken
Whilst we generally recommend a full-service approach, we also recognise that costs are a significant consideration for clients when engaging solicitors. Therefore, in certain situations we also offer niche support for you at specific critical points in your case; for example if you are handling a case yourself but need the input of a solicitor from time to time.
We will discuss your requirements at the outset in the initial meeting to ensure you get the support you need and will be as flexible as possible, offering the right level of professional service to meet both your needs and budget.
Increasingly, we are providing advice on pre-litigation matters alongside other non-contentious solicitors within KBL as risk managers. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an integral part of our practice and an area in which we have particular expertise, to achieve early settlement of disputes and claims. We have a successful track record of settling disputes on terms favourable to our clients – including Part 36 settlements, mediations and joint round table settlement meetings.
The department is expanding quickly as the firm’s reputation for a sensible and commercial approach becomes known in this highly specialised area of the law.
